Little Big Things.

Hello all, it's been a productive week this week. Maybe, misery is officially 99.9% finished! I just want to comb through it one last time and make sure that I'm completely happy with the story.
Someone asked me the other day, what kind of genre it is... I was stumped to say the least! So after much debate I've decided it's a pre-post apocalyptic, erotic, action/ adventure drama :p it really is! I've managed to cram everything in to this book. And now that it's nearly out, I'm proud of the fact that I've persevered because it's been a fucking long three years!

Anyway, it's only a short hello today as I've got some work to do, so here is a consolation prize for anyone uninterested in my book... More writing containing innuendo's :p
I hope you all have had awesome days, Much love.

Coming Quickly

‘I want you to come’ she mutters all flustered and breathless, sweat glistening off her arms.
I tell her that I’m not ready to come, I need more time.

‘I want you to come… for me’
‘I’m telling you woman, I’m not ready and this pressure you are putting on me only delays it further.’

‘Just come’ she moans, as she continues to tire.
It’s become annoying now so I think clearly and prepare myself ‘Fine, I hope you are ready.’

Don’t you just hate it when your running partner asks you to a party at your exes.

Double Penetration.

Yes, I thought that may catch your attention :p

Rather than any small updates, I'll just let you know that everything is running smoothly regarding Maybe, misery and all things related. I'm still waiting on two sets of answers for the 20/20 quiz so it shouldn't be much longer... surely.

I have two stories to share with you today. Another 100 word drabble and a 500 word short story I wrote this morning for a competition, though I'd been up for 24 hours and was extremely fucking sleepy. So I hope you enjoy them regardless.

Much love

C.S

Ignorance isn't bliss

Why on earth are you ignoring me!
What have I done to make you so angry? To have you treat me like this!
You stand by my side drowning in tears, yet you say nothing at all.
I didn’t mean to do it, whatever it is I’m supposed to have done!
I’ve always loved you and you’ve loved me back yet you treat me to the painful gift of silence.
I’m begging you now, begging for your forgiveness; I’d do anything to hear your voice.

And then it dawns on me, I left you

It dawns on me, I died.

Just another day

He mumbles relentlessly, about the past as though nostalgia is his best friend. The words leave his aging, chapped lips and I pretend to listen.
I look upon him with great pity as he brushes his shoulder length grey hair from out of his eyes and I can only hope this is not what the future holds for me.
“Back in the good old days, America stood tall until the war was won” he rambles as if we lost this non-existent war.

The world as we knew it will forever be a figment of the past. There was no great war, no nuclear fallout… Our enemy was simply time itself.
10 billion people populated the Earth and we consumed everything our planet had to offer, just to suit our own selfish needs. And rather predictably, the Earth had less and less to give until we were left with nothing but our greed.

However, that didn’t stop us. We just became more aggressive with our resources. Bombarding other countries with our vast military to steal from them what we had already depleted.
Eventually there was nothing left to steal. Our fuel ran out first, and without fuel, we were lambs to the slaughter.

Countries fell fast with all inhabitants becoming a one man army of self-preservation. The riots in my home town were of an epic scare and as each day past, I grew ever more fearful for my life.
I cowered inside my one bedroomed apartment, clenching my gun for 18 hours a day, and waiting anxiously for someone to break in and attempt to steal my supplies. I’d say luckily that day never came, except for the fact that after two or three months, it was irrelevant; I’d run dry.

As I plucked up my courage and ventured out into the broken world, my so called courage soon dissipated. Since I’d been in hiding, I’d missed most of the riots. The streets were littered, shops broken in; bodies lie scattered on the un-swept ground and as the darkness fell… well let me just say; it was scary as hell.
It’s been around a year now, surviving day by day. I spend most of my time searching for bottled water and the rest, hoping to find a group of survivors who have chosen to stick together.

I almost feel bad for what I’m about to do.

I sit down besides the old man, faking friendship and just as he’s rambling on consistently, I bring the blade in my left hand around and jam it in his throat. As his blood spills on to my hands, he looks into my eyes and I try my best to look away as his life drains away.
Once his suffering has ended, I wipe the blood that covers my hands on to his rugged beige jacket and grab his half empty bottle of water. It may seem slightly severe to anyone reading this, but for me; it was just another day.

Killing time.

Well, happy Friday everyone! Or as I call it, Monday, because it's the start of my working week. Regardless, I hope you all have awesome plans for the weekend. Things are going well at the moment, my editor is hard at work and I'm just sort of relaxing. I say that, but I'm utterly confused as to what I should be writing. I've written a worthy chunk of the book that follows on from Maybe, misery but I feel I should wait until the first one is actually out before I commit any more time to it.

Anyway, I have recently missed out on a sort of competition on KUF, which consisted of writing 100 words stories (or drabbles as their called). So I decided regardless of missing out, I want to write one. So I did, in less than ten minutes (Chris doesn't faff around). So I'll share it with you below (feel free to send me any of your own in!). Also my favourite song I've heard this week is Sex and Lies by Nothing More. You should check them out. And I finally got round to watching the Wolf of Wall Street, which was truly awesome! Purely because it's just crazy and I like to see films that aren't filtered to achieve a lower age rating, to get the teenagers in.

I've also been reading Duellists by David Wailing which has been a great read so far, and is a grim look at the future. Plus it's free for kindle so get that downloaded. What else... I've noticed a few people from Russia read my blog and if any of you are poets, send it in and I'll put it up for everyone to see! (MrTalon87@aol.co.uk) Have you ever heard poetry in Russian? It sounds fucking awesome! :D But that invitation obviously stands to everyone else as well :) Anyway have an awesome weekend from me, much love.

Killing Time

As I look down at the indigo face of my watch,
The time is 21:37.
I frantically rub my eyes as the heat from the fire singes away with reckless abandon.
The ash floats up into the nights sky and I sense a feeling I have long since felt; serenity.
As the smell of burning flesh begins to dissipate, my work here is done.
You made my life hell, a misery causing me to drown in my own despair.
Now, as I stand above your burning lifeless corpse, I smile completely for the first time.

It’s 21:37, it’s killing time.

A Thankful Apology.

Hello everyone. First off I want to apologize for missing out Nova Tuesdays due to my 20/20 quiz taking place. My attempt at poetry will also be missing tomorrow as well. It's the last five contestants tomorrow to see who goes through to round two! As I previously mentioned a while back, I tried to get a few authors involved... I managed one, in the form of the awesome A.K Michaels. You can find out more about her via the link on this page. Three's a crowd will return on Thursday and everything will continue as usual until Round two is ready.

Secondly, over the past few days my blog passed 1000 views. Now we all know I'm new to blogging, I've mentioned that a few too many times. So I just want to say a massive thank you to every single person that has read my blog! A thousand views may not be a lot in terms of blog views (it may be! You can colour me clueless) but it means a lot to me so once again, Thank you!

The editing process for maybe, misery is well under-way and I am delighted to say that 1. the editor I have chosen is in fact awesome. And 2. From what has been returned to me, it really does look a lot fucking better!

Anyway that's all for now... oh shit... I almost forgot. To the people that read my blog, I have set up an email account specifically for reason such as this. If you'd like to contribute in any way to my blog, for example; share your attempts at poetry or just tell us all a bit about yourself and what interests you about the whole blogging thing. Even if you want to take part in any of the series I run (now or in the future) You can email me at MrTalon87@aol.co.uk

Enjoy the rest of your day

Attempt at Poetry Wednesdays! (No.3)

Yes, it's that time again... I forgot about the five minutes I set aside, opting to watch the Wolf of Wall Street instead, so this attempt is being composed right now, off the top of my head. Enjoy... Oh and it's worth mentioning, some crazy bastard has put the first act of Maybe, misery (which is no longer in print) on Amazon UK for one thousand pounds. This made me chuckle :p Have a nice day everybody.

Killing Time
As I stand gazing up at the dark sky of night.
Breathless and wounded from this all but over fight.

A barrage of images flash through my brain.
Of lust, love, anger and pain.

I lie on the ground covered in blood.
It makes a peculiar substance when mixed with the mud.

I stare at the stars.
Longing help from afar.

Just know that I tried.
Until this day that I died.

Tease me until you lose control...

I bet you were all like "what an intriguing post title, must be something erotic." Well it's not :p I have some teasers to share with you from my upcoming book. I spent at least five minutes on each of them and yes one of the pictures is of me. That's because one of the minor characters is based on myself (mainly looks wise), he's even described as looking like shaggy from scooby do; which often happens to me. So I hope you like them a little bit :) Remember to tune in for some poetry tomorrow, I've set aside five more minutes to write one later.

NOVA Tuesdays! (Chapter Five)

It's that time again. The next bare bones chapter of Nova. It's only a short one. I hope you're all well, be sure to tune it tomorrow for another attempt at poetry. Three's a crowd also returns on it's limited run Thursday. I've got five sets of answers from my quiz to receive before that can go up, so it shouldn't be long.

Stalemate

Just as we’re about to turn a corner, a car comes tumbling past us and smashes into a nearby structure. Troy swerves out of it’s path and we come to a stop. As we look to the surroundings, multiple beings lie still on the ground. A structure to our right explodes in to flames and the debris smashes against the cars protective screen. From out of the destruction appears a large figure ‘oh shit, it’s Lotaan’ Karl proceeds to explain ‘we should leave.’
‘Why?’ asks an unassuming Troy.
‘Lotaan is a beast, an angry beast at that.’
‘Well we need him.’
‘This is a mistake Osias, let this count as a warning.’

The three of us exit the car and approach Lotaan who stares at us with a death gaze. ‘Lotaan, I am Osias Valkarian, we have come for you.’
Lotaan must be at least eight foot tall, his muscular frame almost bursts out of his war torn attire. Heavily bearded, bald and with deep red glowing eyes. ‘Osias Valkarian, the defeatist, the surrendered, the coward… Lotaan has nothing to say to you.’
Karl mutters in my ear ‘only beasts refer to themselves in a third person.’
‘You should mind your words Lotaan, I do not seek confrontation.’

‘That’s because you’re weak and pathetic. Your gift is nothing bar a humorous embarrassment to Novarians.’

‘Speak ill of my gift once more beast and I shall have no choice but to slaughter you were you stand.’

‘Osias, Lotaan has the gift of strength, he’ll end your existence.’

‘Thank you for the vote of confidence Karl.’

‘The only thing you slaughtered was our chance of winning the war. Your gift is a sign of weakness.’

‘Enough! Lotaan, for slander of a fellow Novarians gift, I will now bring your life to an end.’

‘It’s time for you to die son of Obadiah’ counters the beast, grinning all the while.

Lotaan plunges towards me with giant strides, the goliaths massive frame causes the ground to shake with every step. I lift up my hands and as my veins illuminate he does not stop. Lotaan collides with me at such a velocity causing me to plummet backwards into the car. The pain courses through my spine as I’m slumped over. Feeling groggy and infuriated I rise to my feet.

I relax my arms, then slowly lift them upwards causing a car to the left of Lotaan to levitate of the ground. I sway my arms to the right and the car smashes against my new found enemy with almost no effect. He stands glaring at me with a wry smile across his broad face.

‘You are too weak Osias! You are no match for me, you have no control! Lotaan bellows, causing my desire to end his existence to heighten.

‘I… have… perfect control! I smash my hands together and a deep blue aura expels from my body and expands around us. However it once again, appears to have no effect, that is until I notice the sound of silence. Lotaan is stood perfectly still, I glance around at my fellow exiled and they are also still like the deceased. Strange as I intended to emit a pulse wave, it’s obvious that I still have much to learn. I walk over to Karl and touch him on the shoulder, a shiver travels through his entire body ‘what the fuck was that!’
‘It would appear I have the ability to freeze time.’
‘No way, that’s exquisite… you can have so much fun with this.’
‘Karl, it is an important gift, not an amusing toy.’
‘Relax Osias, what are you going to do now?’
‘I’m going to make Lotaan pay for his slander.’

Karl looks at me with concern once more ‘listen, you know I’ve always been obedient towards the old laws…’ I interrupt him by saying ‘if you say so.’ Karl smiles at me as he knows I’m being truthful ‘we are all alone here Osias, in a world we don’t understand, far away from home… we should be sticking together; not falling apart.’

Karl has a point full of validity, as much as I have this desire fuelling me to end Lotaan, he could be a valuable asset in our cause. We are lost, we have little understanding of this world and yet rather than band together, we are indeed falling wayward.

I turn my back on Karl and walk towards Lotaan. A part of me wants to collapse the near by structure on top of him but I resist. I tap him on the shoulder and the shiver once again courses through his body and he looks down at me with the intent of violence ‘great Lotaan, look around you, my gift has given me the control of time. The few moments that have just gone by, I could of ended your existence and you wouldn’t of known until you drew your last breathe. The only reason I didn’t is because we are fellow Novarians far away from home. I am pleading with you to aid us in our bid to find the others of our kind and to assist us in our survival in this unknown world.’

Lotaan looks down upon me and smiles ’Your gift isn’t useless after all… We should leave this place swiftly and we need a larger means of transport than these feeble machines.’

‘I somehow doubt they have Dragon-hatches here my friend but I’m confident we shall find somewhere for you to rest your bulbous stature.’

I awake Troy from his frozen state and we vacate the scene, as we’re out of sight, I clap my hands and the world returns to normal albeit from some small scale destruction.

A Saturday Check up.

So anyway, with the world cup starting, that seems to be the high point of many peoples conversations. However, with everyone else talking about it, there's no need for me to... so if you thought I was going to blog about football (soccer) and you aren't a fan, you can rest easy.

Maybe, misery is two weeks away from being sent away for it's line edit... and I grow ever the more excited. Partly because at the moment I'm doing nothing! Obviously, I'm still writing and I'm still going to the gym but I'm not working towards a goal or challenge so it all feels... empty. Then again, my cousin text me today about doing a 42km obstacle course so with Maybe, misery soon coming into action and a next possible challenge, things could be on the up.

I've also been trying to get a blog quiz up and running, a sort of general knowledge knock-out quiz and it would be different than usual blog fare. To be honest, it's been quite difficult getting people to do with some people completely ignoring my messages, like I'm asking for money or bone marrow. You all know my feelings on ignorance so I don't have to tell you that I hope they spontaneously combust :p It's coming along though and it should hopefully be ready soon, I've even tried to get some authors involved.

Don't forget about Nova Tuesdays, poor attempt at poetry Wednesdays and the limited run of Three's a crowd will return on Thursday.

Anyway, I hope your all well and enjoying the weekend. If I don't speak to you all before Tuesday, I hope you enjoy the Game of Thrones season finale.

Much love

Three's a Crowd: The Return (No.2)

Sorry about the dodgy publishing errors! And Thank you to my special guests this week, Enjoy.

1.  Do I have the permission to share your name and/or picture? If not, what should we call you?
A: Yes but let me Photoshop it first to remove my amazing jawline and six pack! You can call me ether Iron man or simply Andy or Drew
N: What’s it far? (Upon explaining) Nana Bear
S: Sure

2. Age?
Andy: I am 27 years young
Nana Bear: 63
Sonja: 31 years old

3. Occupation?
A: Security is my main occupation and Web and Graphic design are my second and my passion and what Ii want to be as a career, but I did want to be all sorts whilst growing up…
Typical stuff like footballer but then prime minister cropped up at one point! I still think I could make a great midfielder or win an Oscar for my great acting; That I have no experience of! (Pulls bemused face)
NB: Retired
S: Hairstylist

4. Have you heard any unimportant news made to seem important?
A: Every day…..Entertainment news…”oooh look Rihanna is wearing a dress made by someone, oooh look some kid of a mediocre pop star has died….What? What did she do? Eeeerm… well, she rode her famous father’s coat tails to get into magazines she wrote a column in some crappy celeb obsessed magazine… and took drugs. Not really someone the world will miss then … What about people who have made a difference who pass away gracefully and get no mention. Take a Dennis Ritchie as an example. He died in 2011 the same year as Steve Jobs … and his death is basically ignored yet he made a bigger impact on the world. Whose official biography… I am reading at the moment.
NB: No, I haven’t actually.
S: Anything about the Kardashian family, bunch of talentless skanks.

5. Quote of the week?
A: “Empty your mind; be formless, shapeless like water. You put water into a cup it becomes the cup, you put water into a bottle it becomes the bottle, you put it in a teapot it becomes the teapot.
Now water can flow or it can crash, be water my friend.” – Bruce Lee

6. T.V show of the week?
A: Well after watching many great T.V shows like, the wire and breaking bad. I have been left with Game of thrones which is AMAZING! Tyrion, Tywin and the hound are my favourite characters.
NB: The Chase
S: "Shameless" is amazing, started it this week.

7. The last brilliant film you watched?
A: Ooooh that is a tough one, I have seen a lot of films lately that have impressed me. To name a few the dark knight rises, Avengers Assemble and the last 2 star trek films. I would say
The film that disappointed was Iron man 3. I was thinking Kingsley was going to be a great villain like Ledger and Tom Hardy.
NB: Planet of the Apes, the old one was on T.V.
S: Out of the Furnace, awesome movie.

8. How do you feel about a vast amount of men and women appearing in pornography?
A: Hmmmm, by this do you mean the celebrity sex tapes? Or just Porn in general? I think we seem to be living in a world of Instant gratification and celebrity where people are famous for fuck all. Kim Kardashians of the world who sleep with musicians and have no discernible talent keep themselves in the limelight by appearing in sex tapes or doing something “scandalous”
NB: Crap, they shouldn’t be doing it should they.
S: Ok I'm super disgusted by the whole X-rated industry, I'm a huge prude.

9. If you ruled the world, what one thing would you change first?
A: (scratches head) Hmmmm… I feel like a miss world contestant now (ha ha) that is a tough one. I have 3 things … Cut back money on military expenditure and put it towards something more worthwhile… Because If the world has one ruler the chance of world wars would be slim! I would put the trillions spent on the world’s militaries each year into science and education.
Oh and religion would be…..eradicated. (Rubs hands together)
NB: Politics, I’d make more jobs a priority.
S: I would end the lives of anyone that's ever harmed an animal. If I ruled the world I'd kill em all and have a bunch more beautiful animals everywhere.

10. What is your favourite sexual position and why?
A: (Stairs at the screen)… midfield? Erm Doggy style! Better vantage point (said in a creepy voice)
NB: On my back! (Laughs)
S: I have class and don't speak of my sexual encounters. I'm American remember, aren't we all prudes to you guys?

11. Do you believe there should be a national holiday to celebrate being naked?
A: No, I think teachers have too many days off. I would rein some of those in.
NB: No, there are enough holidays.
S: No way, 90% of people are not people I'd want to see naked

12.  What was the last book you read that got you excited?
A: To be honest most of my reading would be autobiographical, I like to
Read about interesting people. The last book I read that was not that sort was Maybe misery part 1 which I thoroughly enjoyed.
NB: I don’t know.
S: I don't read, short attention span.

13. If you had one day left to live, what would you spend it doing?
A: Gosh I really do not know……Nope, no idea… Too many things, sorry.
NB: Bingo (Laughs)
S: Who knows.

14. What's your favourite joke?
A: I like offensive humour. One I like is … My girlfriend and I went to a restaurant for dinner. It was a nice meal and we were ordering dessert. I asked the waiter how much the pie was.

 "£3.14 sir." he replied.

"That's funny." I chuckled.

"What's that sir?" he asked.

"That Downs syndrome boy just tried to hug a heater and burnt himself."

We both had a good laugh.

NB: I don’t know. I know that many but I’ve forgot them all.

15. Do you have a special piece of underwear you wear when you know there is a chance they'll be seen?
A: No, different plastic bag; every day.
NB: Yes, frilly knickers (Laughs)
S: If you only have one great pair then you need new underwear… They should all be able to be seen

16. Song of the week?
A: Hmmmm, I really don’t have one song of the week-maybe a remix
I found of a Jay Z track from 1996 called dead presidents.
NB: Cher – Turn back time

17. Do you believe that religion is a truly awful fairy-tale, meant to control humanity and inspire false hope?
A: Yes, Man is a tooI builder and because we build tools for a specific use we believe that then the earth fills a purpose like a tool and so must have been created by intelligent life. I tend to look to many atheists such as Richard Dawkins or Christopher Hitchens For great quotes about religion.
I also like the puddle analogy by Douglas Adams…
NB: It’s not false hope is it but yes it’s a fairy-tale.
S: Way too deep of a subject to attempt to discuss.

18. What are your feelings on beastiality?
A: …Baa… Baa (includes a picture of a road sign depicting man and sheep together as one)
NB: What are my feelings about that! It’s sick!
S: Those sick fucks are the scum of the earth, fucking disgusting and should be shot. Gross gross gross.

Attempt at Poetry Wednesdays! (No.2)

I'm going to be honest, I can't write poetry to save my life! Everything sounds so bloody cheesy so I don't know how long this will last. Anyway, I hope you all have a lovely day and be sure to check back tomorrow for Three's a crowd with a very special guest.

Ode to the Earth

The ocean rocks from side to side.
It's elegant blue waves failing to hide.

The green grass sways as the cold wind blows.
Curling between my open toes.

The mountains stand tall as humanity appears small.
Setting us up for an almighty fall.

The sun shines bright upon the vast sky.
Until the very end, the day we die.

This poem isn't for me, nor is it for you.
This ode to the earth maybe sad, but at the very it's least true.

NOVA Tuesday's (Chapter Four)

As promised here is the next chapter of my work in progress NOVA. Don't forget tomorrow is my next attempt at poetry, which should be as shocking as the last. Also, on Thursday my Three's a crowd interviews return for a limited weekly run. Other than that, have an awesome day my fellow beings.

Fire, Fire

As we cross the traverse of this new world, it would appear to be a much younger planet than ours, it’s sun still shines bright and it’s sky is a resplendent blue unlike any I’ve seen before. As I gaze upon the clouds, I feel envious of the inhabitants of this world, how they exist along side such beauty. Troy remains un-distracted in his quest to get home. I understand he craves his families connection but he doesn’t seem to understand what will happen if we return. We will be slaughtered, publicly as an example of defiance against Drataan.

Shortly into our walk, we approach a long stretch what would appear to be used for transport. Suddenly we hear the growling sounds of a machine head our way, I turn around and there’s a object moving towards us in a slow fashion. It’s lights are blinding, perhaps it can be of some use to get us to our destination. ‘Aren’t you going to procure it?’ Asks Troy. I raise up my left hand and the mode of transport comes to a ear-crunching, screeching halt. Another inhabitant of this world half steps out ‘get out of the fucking road will you!’ He shouts in our direction. ‘We need your mode of transport if you wouldn’t mind assisting us.’ ‘You want my car? Go fuck yourselves’ he yells and he re-enters his car. ‘They’re not very nice to visitors here.’ ’No, they don’t appear so.’ I reply to troy and walk over to the car. I open the door via the crudely designed handle and use my gift to sling the occupant into the near by field. ’I’ll only ask politely once’ I mutter as his body crashes to the floor. Troy inspects the car inside and out, until he has it figured out. ’Can you make it function?’
‘Of course I can’ he replies in an overconfident fashion.

We enter and take our seated positions, Troy places his foot down on some sort of pedal and we start to move forward. It’s almost slower than walking. I definitely didn’t appreciate the conveniences of teleportation enough.
After what seems like an eternity we approach a metropolis of high-rise structures and bustling streets filled with life. ’How close are we?’
‘According to the tracker, we are very close. You know Osias, we’ll be wasting a lot of time if we track down all ten of our kind.’
‘We need their help, you’re also forgetting we need to formulate a plan if we are to return home. You can not just build another Catalyst and expect us to return to Nova without consequence.’
Troy doesn’t respond, he just keeps on operating the car. About one of the nearby structures I see smoke rising and I’ll immediately remind of home ’it’s over there.’
‘Good, I wonder who it is.’
As we turn the corner nearly colliding with another car, I see the bustling flames covering a small structure ’it’s Karl.’
‘Karl?’
‘Yes, Karl is a friend, he has the gift of fire.’
‘Karl Draitarian?’
‘That is correct, do you know of each other?’
‘Yes, the stories are that he accidentally set fire to his own carers.’
‘That’s true but we do not speak of it.’

We come to a stop in front of the burning structure and I exit the car. ’Karl Draitarian!’ I shout at the top of my voice. ’Show yourself to your others!’

Karl appears from within the flames and as he sees me, he lets out a sly smile ’it took you long enough, it was getting hot in there.’
‘Get in the car before you attract anymore unwanted attention.’

Karl takes a seat and we set off away from the scene of destruction ’what the fuck is this?’
‘It’s a car, they use it as a mode of transport here.’
‘Well it’s shit, this world is so primitive. When I re-materialised they all looked at me with fear. Who’s this? And where’s everyone else? Where’s Annai?’

‘I believe they are nowhere near as advanced as our kind. This is Troy of the Catal’s and I’m not clear on that.’

‘The son of Osiris?’
‘I am’ replies Troy.’
‘Well it can’t hurt having you around can it. Where are we heading? I’m malnourished and craving a connection or two.’

I must admit, it’s a welcome relief to see Karl despite his self-serving ways. He’s always been a trouble maker but has nevertheless kept me entertained over time.
‘So, what’s the plan then?’
‘We find the others. Troy wants to build another Catalyst to take us home.’
‘Fuck that, I’m all for finding the others but going home? You’re insane. We’ll be slaughtered! We could live like ancestors here!’
‘Troy has a family.’
‘Listen, I’m sorry Troy but Osias, you’ve lost it. I’m not going back there.’
‘Karl, the war isn’t over. We cannot abandon our home.’
‘Our home is a desolate wasteland Osias! Ravaged by Drataan, there’s nothing to go back to except for our public executions and I’m willing to miss out on that.’
‘Karl, how can you be so selfish.’
‘Selfish? By not longing to be slaughtered!’

It’s becoming visible that Troy is getting annoyed with Karl’s attitude so I decide to swiftly change the subject. ’Listen, lets just find the others and we’ll move from there. Troy, how far are we off the next of us?’

‘We’re actually not far from them. This could prove to be less of a challenge than we anticipated.’

Sunday 8 June 2014

Short and Sweet Sundays.

My apologies first of all, it's been a while since I have posted. The back end of this past week has been awful. You know when everything that happens just seems to annoy you? Yeah, one of them, so I didn't want to post whilst in a negative frame of mind. It doesn't help that I'm just waiting anxiously for maybe, misery to be shipped off, so once again... I apologise.

Sundays as you may know is my change around day, finishing work at 7 a.m this morning and back at work for 6 a.m tomorrow morning. So the only thing I really do is go and spend time with my Nan (as soon as she's finished at bloody bingo) and I do a spot of writing.

So far... I have filled two out of seven days for specific blog posts. Every Tuesday I will post a chapter of Nova up until, I've not written enough to post. Hopefully though, setting a deadline will keep writing a priority. Wednesday's I will post a attempt at poetry, it should be entertaining to say the least. I in no way consider myself to have an ability to compose to poem; hence the entertainment.

There are a few other ideas I have splashing around but there's two for now.

Anyway, I hope you're all having a lovely weekend, I'll see you all soon.

Constantly, Always.

So I'm sat at Nan's, reading an article on things I should include in my blog whilst she was on that bloody game on her phone. Obviously, I'm quite new to blogging so I have been looking for ideas that expand on from just telling you about my day. It has given me a couple of ideas to work with so I'll see what happens there. One of the points was to share stories and poems.

Obviously for you, my readers are well aware that I have been sharing NOVA with you guys. Then I remembered a time when I was younger and somewhat more romantic. I used to be known to write a tiny amount of poetry. I know, it's crazy right...

So anyway, I thought maybe I should have a go at writing something along the lines of poetry and I did, in 8.5 minutes. I'm going to share it with you lovely guys and girls, just because I'm nice like that.

Remember, it's been a while and I wrote it in less than ten minutes...

Constantly intruding my thoughts like a welcome distraction.
Always making me smile despite your absence.

Constantly lighting up the darkness that reigns within.
Always keeping my beating heart on edge.

Constantly at the centre of my minds world.
Always have I forever been lost in your eye's.

Constantly wandering where you are now.
Always wanting you by my side.

Constantly missing in this world with out you.
Always lost in my dreams with you.

Constantly suffering from this unspoken love.
Always hoping that my silent words are found somewhere in this vast abyss.

Constantly.
Always.

In Flux

Good evening everybody, or morning depending on where in our vast wondrous world you are. As I mentioned the other day, I had planned to share some more of the story NOVA that I have started writing. The reason I didn't is because... well simply because you don't have a clue if people like what your posting/writing. Don't get me wrong, I did NOT post my story to seek gratification, I just wanted to share it with you all. I guess paranoia kicks in and you wonder what people think of it, for all I know you could all think it's shit, but then again you may like it... who knows, not me. I have decided that I will publish NOVA as a short story once it's finished and heavily revised (remember it's the very first draft), hopefully it'll be free for ebook. I did however design an awesome cover for it so it'll probably be available in print as well. Anyway there'll be no ranting to day, I hope you enjoy it.

C.S (Song of the day: The Matthew Effect by Nothing More)

In Flux

The Catalyst with it’s supreme power has the ability to condense matter, transport it and then reintegrate it once it’s reached its destination. Osiris Catal, the great inventor built it at the age of seven hundred, causing him to pre-emptively gain ancestor status; the youngest in our history. His grand design gave us access to the entire universe and in the beginning we explored the depths of space with great aplomb. It was only when our explorers discovered the Unknown, that our exploration ceased. One hundred men and women travelled to the Unknown and one only returned.

Moira Bastarian returned eyeless, soulless and broken. From her life chamber, she informed the council of this backwards universe. Our implants tell us that she described it as a darkness without light, with other-worldly beings whose only purpose was to torture and kill. These creatures from the dark chose her immediately and made her to watch the slaughter of the ninety nine.

Even without eyes Moira suffered from visions of her unwanted experience, leading her to effectively take her own life. Moira used her own nails to rip out the veins in her arms. As her body was discovered, the Unknown was considered off limits and the Catalyst’s use was to be minimal. From then on, it was mainly used to exile criminals, including Drataan who was banished to the Unknown.

When he found the means to return however, our civilisation found itself curious… Too curious for it’s own good.

It’s quite difficult to describe the experience of travelling trough the Catalyst, effectively broken down to atoms, you don’t experience anything… but the feeling of re-materialising is a somewhat strange one. It feels as though your in a state of digital consciousness, waiting for your body to reload itself. As my eyes reopen I am blinded by the light and I find myself on my knees gasping for air. ‘Annai’ I mutter, but to no reply. I rise to my unsteady feet and once again attempt to open my eyes shielding my gaze with the palm of my hand.

I see a barrage of colours, greens, blues and whites but my vision remains blurry. I stumble forward and trip over something causing me to fall. Lying on my front, my vision is becoming frequently more efficient, the colours are starting to separate so I close my eyes and lie still for a few moments.

The next time my eyelids rise it would appear that I had fallen into a state of resting. My vision appears clear and I am in a field of some sort. The green grass, blues skies and white clouds appear beautiful. I know not where I am, but this is not home. There are no fires, no screams of agony, no blood stained floors. It would appear I am on a world I do not know.

As I rise to my feet, I still feel tremendously light headed. On the positive side, my suspension guards have released their grip and disintegrated into the ground. I sense my gift returning and it feels incredibly satisfying. At twenty three my gifts are still developing… In my fathers logs, he explained to me that I had the gift of control. Unfortunately he didn’t go into specifics… From what I’ve experienced, I can move anything I want with my mind but that’s all I know. The gift of control is never given to newborns, it’s a dead gift. One of the few implants we know nothing about but my father in his defiance obviously felt I could utilise it. He felt that it has an unrivalled potential, something I have not learned to exploit at this stage in my existence.

Over to my left I can just make out a primitive looking structure, I decide I’m going to make my way towards it and investigate as to where I am. I’ve never had the opportunity to leave Nova, though my knowledge of the universe is vast. As I make my way through the field, my battered hands caress the grass, it feels so soft yet prickly at the tips; I have no memory of such luxuries on my home world.

Just as I’m approaching the structure, a bright light appears to my right, it’s another of the banished. I wait patiently for the matter to re-materialise, even with our advanced techniques in matter acceleration, it still takes a few moments.

As the figure appears, he drops to his news and I keep my distance. Once the process is complete, I move in closer and help the other out cast to his feet. I do not know this man, but I recognise him from our crowd. He’s slightly older than myself, standing at 6.2” and quite stocky with short brown hair and a finely trimmed beard, I walk him towards the structure. I use my one free hand and use my gift to rip open the heavy red doors from this place of hopeful solace. Inside, it appears to be some sort of out house built for animals of some kind. The large bearing wood planks hold this structure in place and the floor is littered with a yellow straw like substance. We move towards a clump of this straw and I place him down to rest, taking a seat on the floor myself.

‘Where are we?’ asks my fellow survivor as he rubs his eyes. ’I do not know, we appear to be safe here.’
‘Who are you?’
‘I am Osias Valkarian, what are you named?’
He opens his bloodshot brown eyes and looks in my direction ’I am Troy Catal, you are the son of Obadiah Valkarian?’
‘That is correct, and you the son of Osiris Catal. It would appear our fathers reputations are more prominent than our own.’
‘Indeed.’

Troy leans his arm against the wooden makeshift wall and stands up straight and proceeds to stretch. ’What is your gift?’ I ask. ’I have the gift of creation, and you?’
‘I have the gift of control.’
‘Really? I thought that was a dead gift?’
‘I am the only one. My father believed it had the potential to evolve into something more.’
‘Well it didn’t win us the war.’
‘No, it didn’t.’
I ignore his condescending comment, though slander like that, we would not tolerate back home. Our gifts are unique and we keep them with pride. It is written, that if anyone is to frown upon your gift, you have just cause to slaughter them were they stand. However we are not on Nova now and we need to stick together.

‘Do you have a plan son of Valkarian?’
‘I do not. Let us rest for the moment. Where do you believe we are?’
‘It is unclear to myself but my family held good ties with judge Tyrainius, he would not willingly send us into harms way.’
‘As was mine, so we can assume we are safe for now.’

Troy begins to strafe up and down ’we can’t stay here, we need to find the others and get home.’

‘Do you know where they are? And how exactly do you propose we do that? Also you seem to have forgotten we have been exiled.’

‘I will not stand by whilst we do nothing! I can build a Catalyst to take us back!’

‘Remain calm, I don’t expect us to do nothing but what you’re suggesting is certain death.’

‘You, are weak and do not deserve your gift! You have the power of control and you squander it in weakness! Your defeatist attitude is the reason we fell.’

‘Mind your words son of Catal, we may not be on Nova but I will have no qualms reducing you to your most basic elements.’

‘Well act then! We need to find the others, the longer we wait the more people die.’

As my temperament to end his life increases, I feel his pain in being helpless ’do you have a family?’

‘Yes, I have a life partner and town newborns.’

‘I’m sorry you are apart from them.’ Troy squats down to the ground and looks at myself with genuine sadness ’so am I.’

I head out side and take a breathe of this worlds air, it feels phenomenal but after years of breathing in the smoke and sulphur, anything other than that is more pleasurable. A splash of liquid hits my forehead and I run back inside ’what’s wrong? Asks Troy. ’There appears to be some sort of liquid falling from the sky.’

Troy heads to the open door and lets one of the droplets hit his finger, he then places his finger in his mouth ’pH balance of 5.4, I’m sensing heavy acidic qualities in the form of H2SO4 and HNO3... It’s harmless.’

‘Good, you really are the scientist.’
‘I am. Listen, I am apologetic for lashing out. If we find the necessary components, I can build a device to track down the others.’

‘It’s already forgotten (it isn’t really), that sounds like a plan. There’s another structure, to the east. We should check there.’
‘What are we waiting for then, lets go’ concludes Troy.
We head out to the close by structure, it would appear to be a housing quarter of the primitive kind, completely over-sized and inefficient. We enter the house and it’s disgusting, littered with utensils and utilities, the walls cover with images of others and decorated in an awful fashion. We enter a room which appears to be some sort of cooking area and Troy routes through the wooden cabinets ‘anything of use?’ I ask with a degree of hope. ‘Yes, I believe so.’ ‘Suddenly a voice shouts loudly from behind our positions ‘Turn around fuckers before I blow your brains out!’ We turn around and there stands an elder, with black ever greying hair, aging skin, wearing some sort of eye device and over the maximum allowed weight. ‘We mean you know harm, we require utilities to build an infinite tracker’ the now calmly spoken Troy tells the elder. ’Get out of my house before I phone the police!’ Shouts the elderly female who appears to be holding some sort of oblong projectile device. ‘We are not from this place and we require your assistance elder.’ The aging female takes a step towards us with her primitive weapon ’You’ve got thirty seconds to get out of my house fuckers!’

I look over at Troy ’we don’t have the necessary time for this encounter son of Catal.’
‘Agreed.’
‘I extend my apologetic nature to you aging female.’ My veins flash black and I feel the power of my gift surging through my body. I clench my fist and the projectile flings out of the elders hands onto the floor. I lift up my arm and this unhelpful female rises from the ground. Taking a step forward, her body shifts backwards. I lead her into the joining room and place her down on some sort of set made of tacky flowery material.  ‘Please remain here and we will be gone shortly.’ The elder seems to be in a state of shock and simply nods her head. ‘I extend my gratitude to you and I apologise for any distress we have caused.’

Back in the cooking compartment Troy is tinkering away ‘how long will it take?’ I ask with slight concern that the elder female in the other room will not comply with my warning. ‘I’m done.’
‘That’s impressive, how does it work?’
‘It tracks down the signal given out by the use of our gifts… I’ve already picked up a signal.’
‘Really? How far away?’ I ask secretly hoping that it belongs to Annai.
‘We have a journey ahead of us, we should move now.’

‘I agree but perhaps we would go unnoticed if we changed our attire?’
‘Good idea, ask the elder if she houses a change for us.’

I head back into the other room where the female is still sat nervously ‘we are leaving now, we appreciate your assistance but do you have a change of attire for us?’

‘My husband and son have their clothes upstairs… take whatever you want, just please don’t hurt me.’

‘I do not desire to hurt you, we just require your help. We shall be gone shortly.’

Troy and I search thoroughly upstairs until we find some fitting clothes, they’re awful. Once clothed to fit in with our new environment, we head out of this “house” and set of to find another one of our kind, another paragon.

Monday 2 June 2014

25th Hour.

So I've been awake for like 25 hours now, just like most Mondays. I spent last night with my Nan playing Star Wars monopoly and watching old quiz shows, then returned home to work on Maybe, misery. I'm 99.4% sure the cover is done and dusted... well asides from choosing between matte and gloss.

Although I'm slightly tired, I do like Mondays, mainly because it's English breakfast and Game of Thrones days and after today's episode, all I can say is AS IF THAT JUST HAPPENED!!! I'll admit, I haven't read the books but as most of you know, I'm always late to these things and I was introduced to the show first.

Also Amazon sent me an email stating that my new kindle would be delivered today so I don't know whether to get some sleep and hope it fits through my letterbox, or wait up in a sleepy hope that it actually comes! In the early hours I had planned to share some more of the story I've been writing with you all but I didn't and I don't know why. Maybe I will later, if I'm still awake and I can convince myself that people actually want to read it.

I've also noticed that I spend more time on the Kindle users forum than I do on any other social networking site. It's probably because the people are friendlier, more socially adept and have more to say than the people on a supposed social networking site. I mean if you speak to someone on Kuf, they respond, you start a conversation and it's the beginning of something. If you speak to someone you don't know on Facebook, their like "who the fuck are you." Or they just ignore you completely. We all know how I feel about ignorant people but what is it, that's made this social networking site so unsociable? The mind ponders. I'm guessing it's because some people tell you exactly what they are doing at all times, so you don't really need to speak to them because you know how they are. Such a person is pissed off with life. Such a person has fed the kids and is now going to clean the kitchen. I mean, is that really necessary?

I wouldn't update my status posting 'Chris Bailey is having a poo.' I just wouldn't, there are certain aspects of peoples lives, that others don't need to know about. What do you mean I'm ranting again? I should probably stop blogging when I'm tired.

Anyway, I hope you all make the most of your Monday, or like me inform people exactly what you're doing then proceed to rant about people doing what you've just done.

Welcome to the 25th hour.
